Book Review: A Monster Calls

A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness

I’m not crying you’re crying…

“Monsters are for babies, monsters are for bed wetters, Monsters are for…” well not this monster.

This monster is a combination of being completely terrifying yet powerfully moving. It creates a sense of immense power and has tender moments that lead to this story to its touching end. What an amazing, gripping story, I could not put it down from the moment I began. You become so attached and never know how the next chapter will start.

Another weekend read, if it is raining and you are warm wrapped up on the sofa with a blanket and hot coffee this book will be your best friend. It describes the heartbreaking emotional journey of a young boy, his sick mother and a monster that’s walked the earth since time began. It’s wonderfully written and a great children’s classic that you will be able to read and enjoy at any age.

If you have read A Monster Calls let me know what you thought?
