May

Ok I know, it’s towards the end of June, but I am just going to go ahead and blame the Corona… I have found it difficult to keep to a solid posting routine and some things have had to be moved around. I apologise.

More than ever it is important to protect your mental health. Why don’t you have a go at some Hygge activites, and change your daily lockdown routine!

Monday — Build Something

I have been meaning to do this for a while, it was raining and I decided to build a piano using nano blocks. They are brilliant and take around an hour to do. Perfect for a screen-free cozy night in.

Tuesday — Garden Planning

We moved into a new house in August last year and I haven’t managed to doing the garden, so I have taken lockdown at a time to prepare. The first thing I wanted to do was a bit of research, I was given this book for Christmas and it is an amazing step by step guide through all of the year. This was heaven, I sketched out the back garden and planned my hanging basket for the front. This book gave me some great ideas, now, I am not green fingered but I can’t wait to give gardening a try, I am sure many mistakes will be made. .

Wednesday — Positivity

Ok, so lockdown has been getting to me and I have been feeling pretty down, so I decided that I would wear my favourite colour to cheer myself. I did a few breathing exercises to calm myself and just put a positive spin on things. It worked, taking some time to love yourself is important, you are important!

Thursday — A simple walk

It was time to get out of the house and go on a woodland walk. I left all technology at home, and set off to enjoy nature. It was nice to appreciate some beauty in such a chaotic world.

Friday — Afternoon Tea

Jon and I love afternoon tea, and as he had purchased a very special champagne for his birthday, we decided to create our own sandwiches and enjoy some treats to go with it, divine!

Saturday — Lockdown Birthday

It’s Jon’s birthday! There was much merriment, we had a piñata, a treasure hunt, a fantastic meal and some amazing cake. Even though he couldn’t see everyone he wanted to, it was a good day nonetheless. However, post-lockdown plans have been made and I am sure another 30th will be on the cards.

Sunday — Plant a tree

Jon was given a tree for his birthday. We decided to plant it in the back garden. It is the first thing we have been able to put in our back garden since moving in, so this was a pretty big deal for us. The tree is an Orange Dream Acer Palmatum, and every time I look out of our kitchen window it makes me smile.
