Spring: it’s still raining a lot of the time and we still need our blankets, warm drinks and books. Then again, there are glorious days of sunshine, birds singing their songs, and picnics in the park ( when not in lockdown). There is so much Hygge can bring to Spring. Hygge is not just for winter or for cold nights; it is a practice that can be done year round, and each season has something special you’ve just got to know where to look.

Here are a few of my Spring Hygge essentials.

Flowers — Particularly Tulips

There is something special about walking into a room with beautiful fresh flowers. They lift the spirit and brings the outdoors inside. Which is especially important during this time. Go ahead and treat yourself to your favourite flowers!

Do something for nature

Not only are you helping our planet but you will also bring wildlife to your garden and when you sit outside it makes it all the more special.

Strawberries

There is nothing better than that first bite of a sweet strawberry in season.

Lavender and Camomile Tea

Because even though it’s Spring, it can still be cold, windy and miserable. My lavender and camomile tea is something, warm and comforting yet, light and refreshing which also compliments the new season. I love to drink mine with my favourite candle and book.

Rain Candle

Speaking of candles, this candle is something that I have in my Hygge box and is lit in the background all of the time. Find a good candle and enjoy. It adds to the coziness of it all and is a sure fire way of feeling the Hygge.

Plant Seeds

To plant new life for the bees and to make your environment that bit more enjoyable.

A Book

A book to read in the garden. It wouldn’t be a Spring Hygge without feeling the grass between my toes and a good book on my lap. I take in the sun with a deep breath and the whole world fades away. Incredible.

Bike ride

Finally bike rides in the forest to renew the soul, I am very lucky to live near a forest with a path for a bike, but bike rides anywhere are the perfect hygge moment, enjoying nature and the fresh air will put a smile on your face and a warm feeling in your heart.

What do you like to do during spring for those special Hygge moments?

Until next time.
